“ Salvation is of the Lord ”
“ Thou must save, and thou alone ”
One man wrote of John Calvin after he had discovered the importance of Jesus' death on the Cross: He was no skeptic, no heretic, no immoral man, but as far as we know, a pious Roman Catholic until the brighter light of the Reformation burst on his mind from the Holy Scriptures and showed him a more excellent way. "Only one haven of salvation is left for our souls," he said, "and that is the mercy of God in Christ. We are saved by grace -- not by our merits, not by our works." See: Eph 2:4-5; 2 Tim 1:8-9
The negro boy down in my Southland years ago, wanted to join a church. So the deacons were examining him. They asked, "How did you get saved?" His answer was, "God did His part, and I did my part." They thought there was something wrong with his doctrine, so they questioned further, "What was God's part, and what was your part?" His explanation was a good one. He said, "God's part was the saving, and my part was the sinning. I done run from Him as fast as my sinful heart and rebellious legs could take me. He done took out after me till He run me down." My friend, that is the way I got saved also. - J. Vernon McGee, Romans, Vol. 1.

Attention GBC Sister! “ Host fellowship gatherings”
It may have come to some of your attention that small gatherings of fellowship are starting to take place among our sisterhood. This activity was stimulated by a conversation between my wife and I, with the desire to affect a number of things rather quickly for what we hope to be an agenda of relevant meetings in the 2009 year for our sisters at Grace.
We know that everyone is busy with life. We also know that we have had in the past real hurdles in being able to structure and schedule meetings for our sisters that would serve more than times of talk and eating. It is imperative that all of our gatherings serve to edify and build us up in the truth, so that we go away from our meetings with a clearer view of our Savior, and a sense of duty and service to one another and the kingdom of God.
To this end, we are conducting host fellowships, wherein our sisters, who have been around long enough, and are very clear on our goals as a gospel Church, and can lead a meeting of 5 to 10- and up to 15 ladies in intimate conversation, with structured biblical topics, and for the purpose
of getting to know each other better and build acquaintances with our newer friends and sisters at Grace, which is virtually impossible to do with 80 to a hundred women at one time.
The end result will be to assess what are the real needs and concerns of our sisters, and to have a clear set of agenda’s for what will be quarterly gatherings, every three months, in the year2009 the Lord willing.
These host fellowships are being done by several sisters over this next couple of months. We intend to reach a certain group among us, during this time. The meetings will be held in homes and here at our facility.
If you are interested in being a part of this joyful task speak with Barbara Gistand and or Sharon Steele. And we will place you among the various host fellowship taking place.
If you believe you have time and resources to host a fellowship, at your home or here at our meeting hall, please let us know. As soon as we achieve this goal then we may proceed to establish and agenda for the new year, and so serve our sisterhood, in the gospel and as a family.

“CHILDREN SINGING, to OUR ELDERLY!”
“ We were scheduled to take our children to the San Leandro care facility and share the Christmas songs with them at 12:45. But we cannot do this this year. We can however bring them at our normal schedule of 1:30pm. It would be a joy if, we could have a small group of children to serve with the adults to do just that. Please join me and some of our servants, by allowing your children to spend 15 minutes to sing and minister to the elderly. See Mike Aguirre, or P Jesse after worship today. May God bless your efforts in this !
